Fire Door Requirements Below is a stairwell (escape route) fire-door requirement list for Kosovo using the common European approach (EN testing/classification). A) Necessary requirements for Stairwell Fire Doors (E50 / E60) 1) Fire rating evidence (must-have) • Door must be a tested and classified doorset: o E50 = integrity for 50 min o E60 = integrity for 60 min • Test standard typically EN 1634-1 (door set tested as a complete assembly). • Classification typically to EN 13501-2 (where “E” is the integrity criterion). • The rating must match the exact configuration: leaf + frame + seals + hinges/lock/closer + glazing (if any) + fixing method. 2) Self-closing + latching (almost always required in stairwells) • Door closer sized for the leaf (and fire-rated/approved for the door set). • Door must close fully and latch every time. 3) Seals • Intumescent seals around the door perimeter. • For stairwells, smoke control is very commonly required in practice: o add smoke seals (brush/blade) or an approved smoke solution. 4) Fire-rated hardware (only what is approved for that door) • Hinges: correct number/size and fire rated. • Lock/latch: fire-rated and compatible with the door set. 5) Installation requirements (this is what inspectors look at) • Concrete wall type and fixing method (anchors, spacing). • Approved fire stopping around the frame (fire-rated materials/system). • Gaps/clearances must be within the tested limits 6) Identification + documents • Label/ID plate on door. • Provide test report / classification / certificate showing E50/E60 and allowed hardware. 7) Opening and site dimensions (most important) • Structural opening width (W) 900 or 1000 and height (H) 2100 in mm. • Wall thickness (200 to 250 mm) + wall type (concrete). 8) Finishes • Material (steel), paint type/color White
