What is modular construction?
Modular construction is a process in which a building is constructed off-site, under controlled plant conditions, using the same materials and designing to the same codes and standards as conventionally built facilities - but about half the time.
Modular construction has many forms including panelised systems, pre-cast elements and volumentric systems. Our systems fall into the Volumetric category as they are factory finished structures that form enclosed spaces within a completed building and are finished internally before being trasported to site.
Why use modular construction?
Modular technology considerably reduces construction time. It is safer, quieter and cleaner than traditional methods of construction. It reduces the likelihood of defects and allows easy and low cost maintenance. It also offers designers and architects flexibility which is cost-effective.
Quality
Modules are fully fitted out inside, in a controlled factory environment, which results in a high level of quality and repeatability, and leads to significant construction programme benefits.
Timing
Compared to traditional constrction, modular construction time can be reduced by 30%-60%. On-site labour is typically reduced by 70% which leads to considerable benefits on site for access, storage of materials and Health & Safety issues in general.
Cost
Modular building allows reductions in the overall capital costs by 10%-30%, through greater efficiencies of design, delivery and onsite management.
