Batul Sabunwala

Arch. Batul is a principal architect and has over 8 years of Architecture Planning and Designing and 3D Rendering Service experience. She is a team leader currently leading a team of 10 Architects and Engineers. She has Bachelors in Architecture degree from India and Masters in Architecture degree from USA. Registered Architect in India, she is also a corporate member of Uganda Society of Architects.
Her enthusiasm in design has won her several awards that includes
‘Most Playful Award’ in 72 Hour Urban Action competitions in Germany,
Journalism award in Build Today competition, Mumbai.

She has received Africa’s most influential women in business and Government award by CEO global in 2018, Kampala.
Her design and supervision procedure is based on rigorous research and experimentation.

Unconventional typologies are imagined and tailored to the context of each project to create contemporary, high-standard design that is sustainable and user-friendly. The objective in each of her designs is to enrich spatial experiences and make a social impact that seeks to solve humanitarian issues such as improving living conditions for its beneficiaries.

Arch. Batul is an Executive member of Indian Association Uganda (IAU) where they undertake blood donation camps, support heart surgeries of Ugandan Children, foster education, promote sports through sponsorships. She was actively involved in Sand-Model project donated to the senior command & Staff College in Kimaka, Jinja, Uganda by Indian Association that has been inaugurated by President of Uganda. She was also an active volunteer member of the covid-19 vaccination team of IAU.

Relevant Expertise & Engagements
Batul has vast experience in designing and supervising range of projects. From hotel and hospitatility to residential and commercial buildings, she has planned and designed one of the prestigious universities in Uganda. She takes pride in her in depth knowledge and experience in Islamic Architecture which helped her design an Islamic Masjid in Kampala, Uganda. Her flag ship project is the redevelopment of Forest cottages at Bukoto, Kampala, a boutique hotel with 200 rooms
