Sana Hassan

I graduated from NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi with a bachelor’s in architecture (B.Arch.) degree in 2012. I have had professional work experience after graduation where I got associated with some of the renowned architectural practices within the city. I have worked on
range of different projects including educational buildings, commercial high rises, design competitions, residential architecture and high-end interior design projects.

During my first job I got associated with development projects such as Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), funded by USAID with more than 200 school facilities across the province of Sindh in Pakistan. I also worked on the design and execution of a corporate high-rise building with 26 floors which achieved platinum LEED certification.

The responsibilities as project architect on residential projects is to lead and assist on various stages of project development including Conceptual design, space planning, rendered 3D views for the presentation in client's meetings, developing 2D plans (Furniture Layout, electrical and lighting etc.) and elevations, resolving interior and exterior design details and finishes such as joinery schedules and detailed bathroom layouts. Developing a comprehensive set of working and construction drawings. Coordination of drawings and site meetings with structural, MEP and HVAC consultants (if that is the requirement), Site supervision and coordination with the construction contractors hired by the clients or otherwise.

In addition to architectural design, I also have experience in interior design and acquired a very eclectic taste while working for interior design studios in Karachi. I like to experiment with new materials and concepts, integrated with technological advancement along with conventional and timeless ideas. The responsibilities as interior designer in addition to the concept design and construction management included the selection of furniture items, color schemes, with all details such as fabric selection, wall coverings, curtains, rugs, lighting fixtures and accessories for the clients.

I believe Architecture is a very diverse and creative field it’s an amalgamation of both functionality and aesthetics in a building design. It’s about the emotional connection that people have with buildings and has an ability to touch them emotionally through spaces that can heal and entertain and educate. I’m inspired by architecture that truly responds to the climate, local identity and culture of its people and locally sourced materials with the skilled locals thus empowering them through employment. In 2021 I got enrolled in the graduate program at NED University of Engineering and technology and
graduated with the (March.) degree in 2024.

Other than the professional experience and educational credentials, I am a very hardworking individual with a sensitive personality, and I try to deliver the services to the best of my ability when given the opportunity.
