Selam Werede is an artistic architect with a passion for designing functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. She joined BuildMost last August. In February 2023, she won first place for designers who have most invited designers to upload their design works in BuildMost’s part-time designer program. She also hit a record high by having 41 designers complete their information on BuildMost in around one month. Here’s her story with BuildMost.

Could you share your story with us and tell us your secret of such a huge success?
Selam Werede: I would like to summarize it into 5 aspects: strong online presence, networking, going beyond expectations, complete guidance, and being passionate.
Firstly, it is important to have a strong online presence. I try to be online as much as I can.
Second, networking is the key. Attend industry events, connect with other designers and architects, and build relationships with potential clients. Word-of-mouth referrals can be a powerful tool in the design industry and to invite interested designers to the platform. I have strong networking skills and I am also a member of many architectural and designer communities. So I can manage my networking very well.
Thirdly, always aim to exceed expectations. For example, you can set up your goal of inviting 20 designers. But always do your best to reach that goal effectively and go beyond. And also, follow up with every designer you invite whether they complete their information or not, and help them out if there are any problems.
This also leads to my fourth point. I set up a space where designers would come and fill out the form. And I guided them to do that and follow up with them.
Finally, be passionate about your work and let it show in everything you do. And be committed.
May I know how you introduce BuildMost to other designers? What’s your unique way?
Selam Werede: To introduce the BuildMost platform to designers, I highlight the benefits of joining it and explain how it works. This can be done through various channels, such as phone calls or in-person meetings.
For phone calls, different scripts could be used to introduce the platform and invite designers to register on the website. Here’s an example of a script that I would use:
"Hello, my name is XXX and I am calling from XXX. My work is XXX. The BuildMost platform connects global professional architectural, interior, and other designers with clients, offering part-time and freelance job opportunities. To join our platform, you need to register on our website and we will send you an invitation code. Please make sure you upload all the required documents so that clients can reach you or you can bid on posted design requirements."
For in-person meetings, I explain the platform's benefits in detail and demonstrate how to register and use it. I also emphasize that designers can work as freelancers even if they are currently employed. Once they fill out the necessary information and receive approval, they can become members of BuildMost.
Overall, it is essential to communicate the value proposition of BuildMost clearly and effectively to designers, emphasizing the personalized support and customized solutions it offers.
What are your thoughts on BuildMost?
Selam Werede: It is a promising platform, and I am sure it’ll keep growing so that more designers can join, and more global buyers will come to BuildMost to find design services.
Also, BuildMost is an excellent platform for both parties to collaborate on various design projects. It serves as a bridge between clients who need design services and professional designers who offer their expertise.
One of the benefits of using the BuildMost platform is the convenience it provides. Clients can easily search for designers based on their locations, expertise, and project experiences. The website also provides a platform for designers to showcase their portfolios, making it easier for clients to evaluate their skills and professionalism.

What’s your take on the future of BuildMost?
Selam Werede: I joined BuildMost after being invited by a friend, and have since been actively inviting others to join. As a BuildMost ambassador, I plan to introduce the platform to designers in my circle and support other inviters like the support team helped me. In the future, I will continue to recommend BuildMost to companies looking for professional solutions.
