Project Background
The Sanya government would like to have a cultural and sports centre that is adapted to the climate and responds to the local culture.
The two sites will be well connected to each other and will provide a diverse and accessible public space for citizens to enjoy.
The sports centre is connected to the gymnasium, stadium and warm-up arena by a meandering curve like a river, and according to the functional requirements, it forms a wide and narrow change, and the curve opens up to form a semi-circumscribed open space.
The naked main structure imitates the skeleton of marine organisms to realise the requirements of a large span of space for a sports building, and at the same time provides abundant shading regulation and aesthetic changes in light and shadow to adapt to Hainan’s tropical climate.
