Project Background
DE House is a private waterfront villa designed in 2015 on a narrow Ikoyi site for a prominent high-profile client. Guided by 'Street Culture Horizontality' concept the 70m linear residence transforms site constraints into an architectural journey — a skylit circulation spine stretching from entry to waterfront, traversed by an upper-level bridge. Rooted in Le Corbusier's modernist principles, the design orchestrates waterfront views, daylight penetration, and fluid indoor-outdoor living.
Exterior Renderings
The forecourt perspective reveals DE House's arrival experience — a paved motor court framed by the louvre screen tower, perimeter walls, and stepped entrance podium. The juxtaposition of the sculptural aluminium screen against crisp white rendered volumes articulates the building's modern language. Warm uplighting anchors the composition at dusk, while the layered massing and timber-screened gate introduce the linear spatial sequence that unfolds deep into the 70m residence.
The waterfront elevation expresses DE House's 70m linear composition through layered horizontal planes, expansive glazing, and generous terraces overlooking the lagoon. Conceived under the "Street Culture Horizontality" design philosophy, the faade maximizes daylight, uninterrupted water views, and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Strong geometric forms and carefully proportioned openings create a refined modern waterfront residence of lasting architectural character.
The waterfront terrace extends DE House's living spaces into the landscape through expansive glazing, deep cantilevered overhangs, and shaded outdoor decks overlooking the lagoon. Continuous horizontal lines reinforce the "Street Culture Horizontality" concept, while generous openings, passive solar control, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions create a refined tropical waterfront residence that balances openness, privacy, and environmental responsiveness.
The rear terrace perspective captures DE House's outdoor living environment — a timber deck with lap pool extending along the rear facade, furnished with sun loungers beneath swaying palms. The full-height aluminium louvre screen wraps the upper level, filtering tropical light while maintaining privacy. Floor-to-ceiling glazing at ground level dissolves the threshold between interior and terrace, reinforcing the seamless indoor-outdoor relationship defining this Ikoyi waterfront residence
DE House's rear elevation articulates the private face of the residence — a full-height louvre screen filters light and maintains privacy above a transparent glazed ground floor that dissolves into the landscaped rear garden. A timber deck walkway, lawn, and sun loungers extend the living space outward. Dusk uplighting punctuates the facade with warmth, capturing the seamless indoor-outdoor relationship central to the waterfront luxury villa's design intent.
Floor Plan
The site layout of DE House illustrates the 'Street Culture Horizontality' concept in plan — a 70m linear organization where a central skylit circulation spine connects entrance to waterfront, with living, dining, salon, drawing room, home office, and bedroom zones distributed along its length. A swimming pool anchors the waterfront end, while gym, sauna, and service spaces occupy a parallel wing. The plan directly responds to the narrow plot's constraints with disciplined linear zoning.
DE House's floor plans articulate a precise linear programme across two principal levels. The ground floor organizes living, dining, dual kitchens, pantry, waiting room, salon, drawing room, home office, and bedroom 1 along the skylit circulation spine. Above, the first floor accommodates the master bedroom, family living open to the void below, two further bedrooms, balconies, laundry, and store — expressing a luxury lifestyle narrative across 840.6 sqm of designed floor area.
At the uppermost levels, DE House transitions from enclosed living to open sky. The second-floor plan organizes a generous roof terrace across the building's linear extent, flanked by a box room, services, utilities, and lift lobby. The roof plan above resolves the louvre screen volume, lift overrun, and services zone — completing the architectural composition that defines the building's skyline presence and reinforces the horizontal design language from ground to rooftop.
Elevation Plan
The approach and right-side elevations of DE House articulate the building's full architectural character. The approach elevation presents a compact, layered frontal composition — louvre screen volume crowning horizontal glazing bands across three floors, rising to an apex roof at 13,850mm. The right-side elevation exposes the complete 70m linear extent, with continuous horizontal glazing, a sculptural rooftop element at center, and an apex roof reaching 14,450mm above ground level.
DE House's Rear Elevation faces the waterfront with a bold louvre screen upper volume, glazed ground floor openings, and a clean apex roof at 13,850mm. The Left side elevation stretches the full 70m linear length — varied fenestration across both floors, a sculptural rooftop form at center, and a stepped parapet at 8,600mm. Together they complete the four-elevation reading of a residence defined by horizontality, precision, and strong material consistency throughout.
Section Plan
Sections X-X and Y-Y of DE House reveal the spatial depth behind the linear concept. The longitudinal section X-X cuts through the full 70m length — ground floor sequencing living, dining, dual kitchens, salon, drawing room, home office, and bedroom 1; first floor accommodating family living, master bedroom, and bedrooms 2 and 3 above. Section Y-Y reads the cross-section — three floor levels, roof terrace, and structural bay confirmed from ground at 0.000 to apex at 13,850mm.
Architectural Rendering-Canopy
This bird's eye rendering captures DE House's full site organization in a single view — the 70m linear residence stretching from street forecourt to waterfront edge, with a lap pool and timber deck running the length of the right flank toward the lagoon. A private boat dock with moored yacht anchors the waterfront terminus. The roof terrace, louvre screen volume, landscaped grounds, and perimeter boundary wall complete a luxury waterfront estate of commanding linear presence.
Architectural Rendering-Skylight
This dusk aerial view of DE House reveals its most defining spatial feature — the continuous skylit roof glazing that traces the internal circulation spine from street entry to waterfront. Warm light radiates outward through the fully glazed facade, the lap pool shimmers at the water's edge, and the furnished roof terrace crowns the 70m linear mass. A moored yacht at the private dock and gated forecourt complete the commanding Ikoyi waterfront estate composition.
This aerial view of DE House from the waterfront reveals the full luxury of the rear and roof experience — a lap pool running the building's length reflects in the lagoon below, timber decking with sun loungers lines the waterfront edge, and a furnished roof terrace crowns the linear mass. The glazed rear facade opens completely to water and sky. A private boat dock with moored yacht at the waterfront terminus completes the estate's commanding lagoon presence.
