Project Background
Located in Shunde, this renovation project transforms an abandoned 3,000㎡ industrial factory into a vibrant mixed-use complex. The adaptive reuse strategy revitalizes the derelict industrial space, creating a hub that integrates office, commercial, and public functions, giving new life to the industrial heritage.
Exterior Renderings
Rooted in the core idea of “Green Empowerment & Local Symbiosis,” the design respects the original industrial fabric and site memory.
Facade Renewal & Ecological Shading – The existing structure is preserved, while a new adjustable green photovoltaic louver system is applied to the facade, offering passive shading and energy savings. Combined with vertical greening, it creates an ecological, aesthetically appealing facade that enhances both low-carbon performance and architectural expression.
Spatial Reconfiguration & Activation – An open entry courtyard is introduced on the ground floor, preserving an existing native tree to form a transitional semi-open space and a social node.
Interior spaces are reorganized to accommodate diverse commercial-office needs, including open workstations, private offices, meeting areas, and retail functions, supporting flexible workplace scenarios.
Low-Carbon Sustainable Design – Rooftop photovoltaic panels, combined with vertical greenery, natural lighting, and passive ventilation, minimize energy consumption, achieving a near-zero carbon commercial-office space that embodies green building principles.
Multi-fuction Entrance Hall
Local Cultural Integration – Shunde’s regional craftsmanship and cultural elements are woven into the spatial design, allowing the renovated industrial space to carry local memories and achieve a symbiotic relationship with the city’s cultural context.
The revitalized building houses modern office spaces (open-plan workstations, private offices, conference center), supporting commercial and public amenities (light dining, caf, exhibition areas), with social gathering spaces complete the program, creating a full-cycle, mixed-use commercial-office complex that provides an efficient, comfortable, and ecological work environment, revitalizing the urban vitality of the district.
