Interior Renderings
YU studio is an image studio at media industrial park by 5th ring of Beijing City. It is the work place for fashion photographer and his post-production employees. The place was converted from original factory-like division with limited external access at the front.
The initial concept is inspired by the development of photograph. Like the generic principal of photography, the darkness provides great opportunity to shape the space by light and the light continue reshape itself during the day. We would like to create a work place that absorbs and abstracts ingredient of nature continuously. It generates dialogues between natural and artificial environment.
The north elevation was the only opening for the entire site. Thus, the highly reflected concrete wall is designed as a light-well to cast the performance of the light during the day by adding various perforations. It is divided into three parts according to the light level from the north to the south: public space, working area, and private area. Darkness, Material and the light capture the beauty of the original curvature and the nature itself.
