Project Background
The flanking bedroom and service wings are expressed as individual pavilions, linked by recessed circulation spaces that create depth and visual interest. This arrangement enhances privacy while allowing each wing to enjoy natural light and views. The careful articulation of the building mass results in a composition that is both functional and visually dynamic.
Exterior Renderings
The material palette is deliberately restrained, featuring crisp white rendered walls contrasted with charcoal accents, natural timber detailing, and a light-coloured metal roof. Timber pergolas and screening elements soften the modern forms, introducing warmth and texture while providing solar protection to selected spaces. Dark-framed glazing further reinforces the contemporary character of the design.
Simple geometric forms, clean horizontal and vertical lines, and limited ornamentation create an understated architectural language that allows proportion, materiality, and craftsmanship to define the aesthetic. The landscaped entrance, integrated planting, and low boundary walls complement the architecture, creating a strong relationship between the built form and its surrounding environment. Overall, the design balances timeless residential architecture with contemporary living requirements
The central living area forms the architectural focal point, distinguished by a double-volume space with an exposed gable, clerestory glazing, and a prominent chimney. Large floor-to-ceiling glazed openings establish a seamless connection between the interior living spaces and the landscaped garden, maximizing natural daylight and encouraging outdoor entertainment. Deep roof overhangs provide shade and contribute to passive environmental control.
This residence is a contemporary interpretation of rural farmhouse architecture, combining traditional pitched roof forms with clean modern detailing and an emphasis on indoor-outdoor living. The composition is arranged as a series of interconnected gabled volumes, creating a balanced and welcoming street presence while reducing the apparent scale of the home.
