Project Background
The Kahawa Soweto upgrading project in northern Nairobi is a major urban renewal initiative under the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP). Supported by the Kenyan government and international partners like AFD, it aims to sustainably improve living conditions. The initiative focuses on community-led design, secure land tenure, and essential infrastructure upgrades—including roads, sanitation, and drainage—to build resilience.
