Project Background
Our proposed project is a result of a design approach starting with the analysis of the urban and natural elements that characterize this part of Lilongwe Capital City.
One would call this plot “special” because of its position.
Firstly, on the north side, the plot faces directly the new Presidential Way that connect the Bingu Stadium and the west part of the town, in particular area 47 – 49 – 18 with the interchange with M1 and the City Centre.
Exterior Renderings
Along the highway, the directness of the commercial route informed us to provide a long faade that travels with the potential customer as they move along the highway. This faade also provides maximum visibility of the shops, which has a positive impact on the business case. We have decided to give a further vibrancy to the elevation reducing to two storey going toward the river and leave a huge space between the construction and the natural element.
Floor Plan
The plot size is 2.711 hectares.
The owner has decided to develop the area in two phases.
This submission to the L.C.C. I relative to the 1st phase – COMMERCIAL BUILDING.

Elevation Plan
The building is also angled to maximize natural light, ventilation (main elevations exposition North - South). As a result, the final form is covered with a roof that slopes and flattens together with the program of the building.
Lastly, the building’s image came from the research of a system of lights and shadows. This concept, in association with the idea of transparency, comes true through the repetition of vertical lines which are simultaneously the organization module.
